The Link is a nonprofit founded in 1991 by two former Minnesota Vikings players, Jim Marshall and Oscar Reed,andnbsp;in collaboration with the late Leonard Lindquist who shared a vision of bringing opportunity and positive relationships to disempowered youth living in impoverished neighborhoods.andnbsp; This grassroots initiative has since blossomed into an experienced youth service organization serving the community through advocacy, housing, education, and intervention services.andnbsp; Over the last 17 years, The Link has touched the lives of nearly 15,000 youth and their family members through our asset-based service philosophy.andnbsp; Today, The Link continues to build positive relationships with youth that create sustainable positive changes.

Bakersfield South High School Computer Center

Brent McClanahan is at Bakersfield South High School developing their computer center so students may take advantage of the technology in their current environment as well as prepare for the future. Financial assistance, donations of computers, software, monitors, keyboards, drives, etc are his major pursuits.

The Page Education Foundation

The Page Education Foundation was created in 1988 with a simple but innovative ideaandmdash;entice young people of color to positively influence younger children by offering mentoring and financial assistance for college in exchange for their volunteer service. That year, Page Grants were awarded to ten students who mentored about 100 school-age children. Since then, grants have been awarded to 2,667 students who have given more than 175,000 hours of their time to younger children.
