The Southern California Viking Club Game Ball for the
Divisional Playoff Game goes to:

Sidney
Rice

With a monster performance of 6 catches (3 of them for Touchdowns) and 141 yards Sidney Rice has earned another SCVC Game Ball. The scoring catches went for 47, 15, & 45 yards. It is clear that Rice and Favre are on the same page. This is only the 15th time in NFL history that a player caught 3 TD passes in 1 playoff game.

With the win over Dallas, the Vikes have earned a spot in the NFC Championship game in New Orleans.

GO VIKES!

The Southern California Viking Club Game Ball for Week 17 goes to:

Brett
Favre

Brett Favre wins the final game ball for the regular season. The 3rd time he has won the SCVC game ball this season. This was one of his best performances of the year. Completing 25 of 31 passes for 316 yards and 4 Touchdowns! The Vikes took down the Giants with a with 44 to 7 blow out.

To end the regular season on such a high note, and then to get a week to rest and get healthy, I like our chances going into the playoffs this year!

Brett had a phenomenal regular season with 4,202 passing yards, 33 Touchdown passes, and a Quarterback Rating of 107.2!!! But the most important stat is he won 12 of the 16 games he started, and the Vikes are undefeated at the dome!

The Southern California Viking Club Game Ball for Week 14 goes to:

Adrian Peterson

It was a record setting day for Adrian Peterson as he set the team record at 14 rushing touchdowns in a single season, passing the 13 Terry Allen (1992) and Chuck Foreman (1975, 1976) had which have held the record for many years. Smash mouth football was exactly what the Vikes needed to get back on track this week.

This is the 3rd Game Ball awarded to Peterson this year, and he has earned each one of them. This week Peterson carried the ball 26 times for 96 yards (1200 for the season), and added 3 receptions for 40 yards. I always like it when they show Adrian's total yards vs all that Cincinnati was able to produce. Kudos to the defense for keeping a potent offence at bay.

Time to finish the season with momentum and authority. We look forward to our next 2 prime time games!

The Southern California Viking Club Game Ball for Week 12 goes to:

Scott Studwell

There was a little extra magic in the dome, as Scott Studwell was inducted into the Minnesota Vikings Ring of Honor at halftime today.

He was drafted in the ninth round of the 1977 draft by the Minnesota Vikings, for whom he played fourteen seasons from 1977 to 1990. During that time, he was selected to two Pro Bowls. Studwell is the only Viking to have played with both Viking Defensive Ends Jim Marshall (1961-1979) & John Randle (1990-2000).

After a successful career with the Vikings, he moved into their front office and since 2002 he has been the Director of College Scouting which is responsible for all the preparations of the NFL Draft. Studwell personally scouts the majority of the players the Vikings pursue and spends nearly half of each year on the road.

Here is a list of the First Round Draft Picks since 2001, when Studwell was involved with the college scouting:

2001 – Michael Bennett – RB
2002 – Bryant McKinnie – OT
2003 – Kevin Willimas – DT
2004 – Kenechi Udeze – DE
2005 – Troy Williamson – WR
2005 – Erasmus James – DE
2006 – Chad Greeway – LB
2007 – Adrian Peterson – RB
2009 – Percy Harvin - WR

I would say there are a few names on this list that are helping with the success of the current season!

Thanks Scott for all that you have done, and continue to do for our team!

We also want to honor Percy Harvin for his first 100+ yard receiving day! He had 101 yards! Anyone else want to jump on the Rookie of the Year bandwagon with us?

The Southern California Viking Club Game Ball for Week 11 goes to:

The Defensive Front 4

Talk about a defensive stand! It was all but impossible to run against the Vikings Front 4 today. Only 4 yards allowed! There was pressure on Hasselbeck all game long, and Seattle could not get into a rhythem. Time of possession was off the charts in favor of Minnesota 42:11 to 17:49. Only allowing 8 first downs all game, it is pretty clear that the Vikings Defense showed up to play today.  We need them to show up again next week as we play host to another NFC North rival, the Chicago Bears. The Vikes have a 3 game lead in the division, with 6 games to go, we are set up to be able to finish this season very strong!

The Southern California Viking Club Game Ball for Week 10 goes to:

"All Day" Adrian Peterson

With his 3rd game this season over 100 yards rushing, he finished with 133 yards on 18 carries and 2 touchdowns. Peterson is currently 3rd in the NFL in rushing yards, and his 11 TD's ranks him 2nd in the NFL in that category. He is nearing 1,000 yards for the season, and looking very strong week in and week out. Keep it going all season AP!

The Southern California Viking Club Game Ball for Week 8 goes to:

Brett Favre

A complete team effort, and win over the Pack! Oh yeah, and Brett Favre goes to Lambeau field and wins again... this time for the good guys! Completing 17 of 28 passes for 244 Yards, and 4 Touchdowns, with NO interceptions! There is a lot to say about the protection he had, as he was not sacked at all. Looking at the beating that Aaron Rodgers is taking this season (NFL High 31 Sacks) I am sure Favre is happy to be a Viking. With all the pressure and emotion surrounding the game, it is clear that Favre held up and performed well, we are happy to give him our 2nd Game Ball of the year. Now time to heal up during the bye week.

The Southern California Viking Club Game Ball for Week 7 goes to:

Sidney Rice

Even though the Vikes came up short this Sunday. We are still happy to give a game ball this week to Sidney Rice. Sidney had a stellar performance against the Steelers, with 10 catches for 136 yards. The longest catch of the day was a 34 yard strike from Farve on a 4th and 1 from the 35 yard line, taking it down to the 1 yard line. The most impressive catch by Rice was on a 3rd and 18 with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter. On this play he kept his feet in bounds even though Troy Polamalu was putting a huge hit on him. The play was called out of bounds by the refs during the play, but reversed on a challenge by Brad Childress, keeping the drive moving down the field. On the same drive, he also caught a 10 yard TD pass that would have been the go ahead score, but that play was nullified by a tripping penalty. Sidney Rice is currently ranked 7 in the NFL for receiving yards, and a big part of the Vikings success.

The Southern California Viking Club Game Ball for Week 6 goes to:

Ryan Longwell

With 4 Field Goals and 3 Extra Points, Ryan Longwelll picked the right day to be perfect! We needed all of his 15 points today, and with his clutch performance, the Vikings defeat the Ravens and improve to a perfect 6 - 0 record. The Field Goals he had to make were from 40, 22, 29, & 31 yards, all of them in the 2nd half, keeping the score rising consistently throughout the entire game. Phenomenal performance Ryan, you earned the SCVC Game Ball!

The Southern California Viking Club Game Ball for Week 5 goes to:

Leslie Frazier

The Vikings Defense showed up this Sunday. We played on the road in
St. Louis, and only allowed 10 points. In all the Vikings forced 4 Fumbles, recovering 3 of them, one of which was recoverd by Jared Allen who then ran it 52 yards for a Touchdown. Add to that a Tyrell Johnson Interception in the Red Zone during the 2nd Half. This is truely the way to win on the road. Our guys were ready to go! And now they are 5 - 0!

The Southern California Viking Club Game Ball for Week 4 goes to:

Jared Allen

The only word that comes to mind when watching the prime time game on Monday Night is: WOW!!! At one point in time, they had three guys guarding Allen from attacking Aaron Rodgers. That wasn't even enough! He would soon get his 3rd safety as a Viking (his second against Rodgers) which set a team record. He also had 4.5 sacks which is 2nd all time behind Randy Holloway's five sacks against Atlanta in 1984. We also saw Allen covering the field, and running down pass receivers in the secondary, late in the 2nd half. What an athlete! Keep it up Jared! We want to see more of that
calf-roping routine all season long!

The Southern California Viking Club Game Ball for Week 3 goes to:

Brett Favre

Sunday really highlighted the experience and leadership the  veteran quarterback Brett Favre has acquired throughout his 19 NFL seasons and exactly why he is a Hall of Fame worthy quarterback. Favre threw for 301 yards and 2 touchdowns against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, including the amazing game-winning 32-yard touchdown pass to Greg Lewis that he snuck into the back of the endzone in the final 2 seconds of the game. We are excited to see Favre carry this excitement into the Monday Night game against his long-time team and NFC North Division rivals, the Green Bay Packers.

The Southern California Viking Club Game Ball for Week 2 goes to:

Percy Harvin

Percy played a phenomenal game on Sunday as the Vikes took home a win against the Detroit Lions, a fellow NFC North division team. Harvin had a a couple great kick returns and caught a 3 yard touchdown pass from Brett Favre in the 4th quarter to help seal the 27-13 victory for the Vikes. We are excited to see Percy rack up the yardage as his rookie season continues on.

The Southern California Viking Club Game Ball for Week 1 goes to:

Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson got the season started with a BANG. What a huge week! 180 yards rushing, 3 rushing Touchdowns, and one 18 yard reception. My favorite play of the week, is when the Browns defender cut AP off and had a sure tackle, Adrian took 1 hand and pushed him out of play and ran in for the Touchdown. Every time he touches the football you feel the excitement that he may be able to break one for some serious yardage or even a Touchdown. We will be rooting for Adrian "All Day" Peterson to set numerous records this year. Will he hit 2000 Yards? How about set the bar above 2105? Tune in each week to see how he is doing!
