Training Camp:

 

Please get your information to me soon if you’re planning on attending training camp this year. I will need to know by August 4th (two weeks from now). I need to arrange field passes and get the dinner headcount submitted to Majors Sports Grill.
 
Our training camp visit will be on Monday August 10th through Wednesday August 12th. The 12th will not be an “On Field” day – fan appreciation day by the Vikings and the whole team will be out for autographs that day.
 
We’ll be staying at the Day’s Inn in Mankato again this year. The cost will be $55.00 + tax a night and you must say you are with the Southern California Viking Club when you make your reservation to receive this price. The Day’s Inn is located at 1285 Range Street, Mankato, MN 56001. Their phone number is 507-387-3332. Please make your own reservations with the Day’s Inn.
 
Our club dinner will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 pm at Majors Sports Café in Bloomington. We’ll be enjoying a private room for our club and honored guests. The cost for this event is only what you order from the menu; with prices ranging from $10.00 to $25.00. A range of dinner choices will be available from burgers to fish or steak. It’s a great place to bring the wife and kids – there is truly something everyone will enjoy and prices to match everyone’s checkbook. Major’s is located at 8301 Normandale Boulevard, Bloomington, MN 55438. Their phone number is 952-835-8308. The major intersection is the 494 freeway and Normandale Boulevard.
 
For the dinner we have confirmed guests of Stu Voigt, Dave Osborn, Mick Tingelhoff, Rickey Young, Randall McDaniel and Bill “Boom-Boom” Brown. Each guest will address the group with a few short words and an autograph session will be held at the end of the dinner. Mick, Bill and Randall are Vikings Ring of Honor members and Randall is being selected into the Hall of Fame the Saturday prior to our dinner. Please come and support all our honored guests – we are very excited to have the very best of Viking alums attending this year’s dinner.
 
We will be staying at the Fairfield Inn Minneapolis Bloomington / Mall of America while in Bloomington. The phone number is 952-858-8475. Their address is: 2401 American Boulevard East Bloomington, MN 55425. They will shuttle to the mall if you need to get those Viking gifts and they will shuttle to the airport if you want to save a day of car rental.
 
We are scheduling a Winter Park tour and the Vikings are working real hard with us on this event. If we can fit in a tour late afternoon prior to dinner, we’ll do that, Winter Park and Major’s are very close. This would give you all a chance to spend time during the day at the mall or just relax visiting with friends and club members prior to the tour and dinner. Final scheduling at Winter Park is being reviewed – if this timing doesn’t fit we’ll work something else out. Thanks for your patience with this event.
