Minnesota Vikings Team News:

All the team news at this time of year surrounds injuries – so I’ll address a few here. Chris Cook at corner is the latest casualty and there is some hindsight analysis going on here. The Minnesota Vikings traded Benny Sap and some analysts say he could be useful now. I don’t think this will be an issue – I’m a believer that Chris will have a tougher time regaining the starting position when he comes back, Lito Sheppard and Asher Allen will be fine here (no more injuries allowed here).

This brings me to Greg Camarillo; who we received in the trade for Benny Sap. Greg looked fantastic against the Seahawks, good hands and a knack to find the open space in the defense. Okay; Sidney Rice is special; height, speed, good hands and is going to missed and very few playing the game can make up for the loss of Sidney, but, I’ll still take the trade of Benny for Greg (the projected loss of Sidney for more games than Chris). Benny will also do fine – he’s a good player, I hope the best for him.

To me the biggest concern is the injury to John Sullivan. I’m not sure how long he’s going to be out – I’ll need to see the formal injury reports with the start of the season. John solidifies the line and it’s shown that he hasn’t been there during the first few pre-season games. I was thinking this was the year for the line to really come together and start the year fast. Right now I’m thinking the Vikings won’t hit their stride until the fifth or sixth game (when all their starters should be back).

The Vikes aces are Brett Favre – he typically starts the seasons fast and doesn’t dig holes for himself. I’ve seen enough of this throughout his career and it’s nice to be on the receiving side again. Our second (and third aces) are the defensive front seven. These guys can win games by themselves and I’m hoping they win a couple early in the season for us (and I hope they really clobber the Saints). Our secondary isn’t in as big a problem as most think and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Griffin, Winfield and Cook on the field at the same time before the season is over. We now have some really good athletes that can hit and I think Leslie Frazier will find away to get these guys on the field at the same time. The second half of the year belongs to us.

I was talking to a club member who stated the Childress era has gained two wins every year and it looks like this year those two wins are going to be the NFC Championship game and the Super Bowl. I thought about this for awhile and I have to say – I agree. Our team should be peaking at the right time and we have the talent; we may be starting the season with a few questions, but, we won’t be ending the season with any – this team is going to be good (really good). And I don’t care if you’re not supposed to say it – we win it all this year!

Club News:

We’re all set for the season and looking forward to the season – you have to love this time of year.

I want to thank all of you that have renewed your dues – this is a really big help to us at the start of the season. For those of you that haven’t; the dues will remain $20.00 dollars again this year. You can either send me a check or go onto our site and use our PayPal account. If you choose to use our PayPal service start at our sites home page; click on the "Join Our Club or Renew Your Dues" tab. Then click on the "Click Here to Pay by Credit Card" button. Answer a few questions that let me know who you are and you’re all done, ready for the season. This will probably be the last time I explain how to use our site efficiently – I don’t want to have those of you with computer skills to gang up on me, anyone with questions will have to direct them to me through email.

Oh yes – I still think we beat the Saints by 13 points.
